Larger lots and long carries
Many Londonderry properties are bigger and more open than in nearby cities. Stumps far from the driveway mean a longer drive for the grinder, and soft lawn may call for a different route to avoid ruts.
Grinding stumps on suburban lots, farm properties and commercial sites.

We grind stumps for Londonderry homeowners, farm owners, builders and commercial property managers. From a single lawn stump to a row of old trees along a field, our grinders take the stump below grade so the ground can be reseeded or built on.

Londonderry has more open land than nearby cities, along with brooks and large conservation areas, and that changes how stump jobs are planned.

Beaver Brook and several smaller brooks drain the town, and land near the Musquash Conservation Area includes wetlands. Stumps inside the town's Conservation Overlay District buffers need a check before grinding.
Removing old fruit trees or tree rows on farm properties can leave many small to medium stumps in a line. Grinding them in one visit is efficient and leaves a clean strip for mowing or replanting.
Newer neighborhoods have buried power, cable and gas service lines across front yards. Utility marking comes first, and a marked line next to a stump can limit grinding depth.
Most yard stumps in Londonderry do not need a permit, but check these.
Dig Safe. New Hampshire includes "tree and root removal" in its definition of excavation (RSA 374:48 (opens in a new tab)). Work within 100 feet of an underground facility needs one-call notice at least 72 hours ahead, not counting weekends and holidays (RSA 374:51 (opens in a new tab)).
Conservation Overlay District buffers. Londonderry's Zoning Ordinance Section 4.6.1 sets wetland and stream buffers in the Conservation Overlay District, and the Conservation Commission advises the Planning Board on impacts inside them (Buffer Mitigation Policy (opens in a new tab)). If a stump is near a brook or wetland, ask the Planning and Economic Development Department before work.
State shoreland and wetlands. Within the 50-foot waterfront buffer of protected waters, stumps and roots must stay intact (RSA 483-B:9 (opens in a new tab)), and work in wetlands and banks needs a state permit (RSA 482-A:3 (opens in a new tab)).

For planning, HomeGuide (opens in a new tab) reports national averages of about $120 to $400 for the first stump and $30 to $60 for each additional stump, or roughly $2 to $6 per inch of diameter, with minimum service fees around $80 to $160. Extra-large hardwood stumps in difficult conditions can run higher. These are national reference ranges from a published cost guide, not our prices. Yes. Rows of stumps along fields and property lines are a good fit for one visit. Tell us how many there are and the largest diameter so we can plan the time.
Possibly. Londonderry sets wetland and stream buffers in its Conservation Overlay District, and state rules protect stumps close to protected waters. Check with the town before work.
We pick the shortest firm route and avoid soft ground when we can. On large lots, a photo of the path from the driveway helps us plan.
Yes. We work on commercial and farm properties as well as homes, and we can provide proof of insurance.
You can fill it with the grindings, or we can haul them away and you add topsoil and seed. Grindings settle as they break down, so a little extra soil helps.
